How we got started
Virginia is the birthplace of American distilled spirits. The Virginia distilling industry’s rich history began with the first batch of corn whiskey produced in 1620 by English settler George Thorpe at Berkeley Plantation, near Jamestown. Since then, the distilled spirits industry has changed in many remarkable ways, especially in the Foothills of Virginia, but the traditions of distilling remain with the Virginia Foothills Distillery & Co.
